Welcome to Nome kulturskole – School of Music and Performing Arts.

“Nome kulturskole” is a public service institution which aims to give all children the opportunity to learn visual and performing arts. “Nome kulturskole” strives to be a community center of the arts.

We offer instruction on a variety of instruments and other areas of arts like visual arts, theatre and dance (individually or in small groups) on a weekly basis throughout the school year.

Students are given regular opportunities to share what they are learning in performances and exhibitions both inside and outside of the school.

Nome kulturskole manages “Den Kulturelle Skolesekken”- a program where the public schools are offered concerts, art projects, music projects, movies etc performed and instructed by professional artists.

In cooperation with Ulefoss samfunnshus (Municipal Cultural Centre) “Nome kulturskole” manages «Barnas Hjerterom» – a program offering professional theatre project to preschool children.

Nome kulturskole has approximately 200 students.

Prices

In school year 2022/23 the tuition fee is NOK 1600 pr. semester. Some pupils must pay additional fees, for example if they rent an instrument.

The fee is reduced for families having two or more children attending Nome kulturskole. Price reduction for for a place is set to 50 % for the 2^nd child.

By applying for admission to “Nome kulturskole”, you also agree to the following conditions:

Admission is valid and economically binding for one term and is automatically renewed until a written cancellation is registered by the school’s administration. Our academic year consists of two terms (autumn and spring).

Cancellation of contract must be done before December 1^st , otherwise next term’s tuition fee must be paid in full.
For new pupils: The first two lessons are free trial lessons. If you decide to cancel your child’s admission you must inform the school in writing.
Absence: You should telephone your teacher to explain the reason for your absence. Absence for more than three lessons per term may result in the termination of your child’s tuition, with no refund being given.

Conditions for instrument hire: We offer a number of hire instruments for beginners. You may hire a string instrument for a maximum of two years, and you may hire certain small size instruments until you can play on a full size instrument. We have some guitars for hire, for a maximum of three years. You have full responsibility for the hire instrument, including damages. Repairs must be carried out by qualified craftsmen only!

If your hire instrument is lost, you will be billed for the cost of a replacement.
